New range of silicone sealants, PU foams for DIY market
Local polyurethane manufacturer Industrial Urethanes has launched a new DIY division which has taken user- and environmentally-friendly, safe polyurethane foam and silicone sealant products into the DIY and small contractor markets.
The new Tytan range is manufactured by Selena, a long-established Polish company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The holder of the sole agency for sub-Saharan Africa for Tytan foam and silicone products designed specifically for DIY and professional use and to meet the needs of small contractors, the Industrial Urethanes DIY division has initially focused on Gauteng.
Tytan sales manager Melanie Molton said the silicone product range has extra volume at 310ml. The range includes: a multi-purpose formulation; a sanitary version for bathrooms and kitchens which retains elasticity; a neutral cure marble and Stone version for all natural stone applications to prevent acetoxy, corrosion and discolouration of stone; and a B1 rated fire-retardant silicone and acrylic.
“The multipurpose neutral silicones are low odour, UV-resistant, have anti-bacterial properties and are resistant to fungus, mould and mildew. They will also adhere to PVC (polyvinylchloride) surfaces and comply with ISO 9001:2000. Industrial Urethanes also holds the ISO 14001 environmental standard and the OHSA 18001 health and safety standard,” says Molton
“Initial market response has been lively and as a result we’ve identified 15 new lines that will be added this winter,” said Molton.
Among the new products are standard acrylic for paintable filling and sealing and wood sealants in all the popular colours such as mohogany, oak, pine and nut. There are also mounting adhesives for mirrors, ceramic tiles and polystyrene, gasket silicone, aquarium silicone, PU cleaner for guns and multi-purpose wipes which are handy and remove PU, silicone, acrylic and lubricants from hands, tools and surfaces.
